Dündar Çorap took its first step into the sock industry in 1978 in a commercial building in Eminönü/Yeşildirek. In those years, socks were worn mended and patched; we began by purchasing B-grade (second-quality) products from sock manufacturers, repairing them in a workshop, and selling them at local marketplaces. In the following years, we did not limit ourselves to the markets; we opened our own shop and established our business.
By sourcing more goods and maintaining inventory, we expanded our market and customer base to include Anatolia and the Eastern Bloc countries. By the 1990s, we realized that we could not grow solely with B-grade products, so we began purchasing yarn and entered contract manufacturing. By 2001, Dündar Çorap had become a well-known name in the domestic market. Following this, recognizing that contract manufacturing could not deliver the high quality and branding we desired, we purchased Lonati machinery and started our own production in our building located in Avcılar/Firüzköy.
Dündar Çorap has since become one of the most prominent and sought-after companies in Turkey. We nearly doubled our capacity beyond the factory we established in 2001 and moved to our new building in 2014.
Regarding the secret of our success, Mr. Dündar Topcu states:
“The foundation of everything is the principle of work, and hard work. Alongside this, loving your work and valuing your business is vital. In our relationships with our customers, we have always placed trust at the very top and maintained strong communication.”
Consequently, we have always said—and will continue to say—to our employees:
“Keep the flawed goods for us, give the quality goods to the customer. Let the loss be ours, and the profit belong to the customer.”
